Terms
The rules, in plain English.
One page, no small print, and nothing buried in a clause. If any of it seems unfair, say so before you book rather than after.
Booking
Nothing is booked until we have confirmed it back to you. Sending the form or ringing starts a conversation; our reply — with the price, the pickup time and the address — is what makes it a booking, and that reply is the version that counts. We will confirm by text, email or phone, whichever you prefer.
Availability is first come, first served. If we cannot take your journey we will tell you straight away rather than leave you waiting.
Who completes your journey. When we cannot cover a journey ourselves, we may arrange for another licensed and insured independent private-hire operator to complete it. We send you a quick confirmation telling you who will be completing the job, and Obsidian Transfers remains your main point of contact throughout.
The price
The price we confirm is the price for that journey. It does not change afterwards because of traffic or the hour of the day.
The airport prices published on this site are starting prices, by car or minibus, for collection from one address anywhere on the Wirral, and they already include the airport’s own terminal charge. Once we confirm your booking, the quoted price is fixed unless you change the booking.
The only things that change a confirmed price are changes you make — a different pickup address, a different destination, more passengers than the vehicle takes, or extra stops. We will requote before doing anything, never after.
Paying
There is no deposit. Nothing is taken to hold a booking, and you owe nothing until the price is agreed with you.
We take cash, card or bank transfer:
- Cash — after the journey.
- Card — after the journey.
- Bank transfer — before the journey.
So in the ordinary way of things you pay at the end of the journey, by cash or card. If you would rather settle it in advance instead, ask us for the bank details and send a transfer before you travel — that is your choice, not a condition of booking.
If another operator completes your journey and you have already paid us, we pay them — there is nothing more for you to do. If you are paying cash on the day, you may pay their driver directly.
Changing a booking
Tell us as soon as you can and we will change it if we are able to. If a change affects the price — a different pick-up, a different destination, extra stops — we will requote it and confirm the new price with you before anything goes ahead.
Extra stops are usually fine. Mention them when you book, or speak to the driver before you set off. If a stop changes the price we will tell you what it costs and agree it with you first — never after the journey.
If we cannot accommodate the change, we will say so and you can cancel instead, at no charge.
Cancelling
There is no cancellation charge. If your plans change, let us know as early as you can and that is the end of it. Early notice means we can offer the slot to somebody else — but it costs you nothing either way.
Waiting, and delayed flights
For airport bookings we monitor your flight. If you land late we already know, so the pickup time moves rather than the journey being lost.
Airport bookings include up to two hours of waiting time — enough for a slow bag belt and a passport queue. Beyond that, ring us and we will sort it out.
What we can carry
Our own vehicle is a 2026 black Renault Trafic with 8 passenger seats, plus the driver — so a standard booking is for up to 8 passengers. Larger groups can be arranged using Obsidian Transfers plus additional licensed operators and vehicles, subject to availability: ask us for a quote.
Child seats are not provided. You are welcome to bring your own and fit it in the vehicle, and child seat storage is available on request.
Up to 8 large cases plus hand luggage. The booking form asks what you are bringing, and we confirm it will fit before the journey is agreed. If you have more than that, tell us and we will give you an honest answer rather than find out on the driveway.
Assistance dogs are welcome, at no extra charge. Licensed private hire drivers have a duty to carry assistance dogs under the Equality Act 2010, and we are glad to. Please mention it when you book so we can put a cover down.
No smoking or vaping in the vehicle.
What we need from you
Give us accurate details when you book — the address, the time, how many of you and what luggage you have. We plan the journey around what you tell us, so if something changes, let us know.
Please be ready at the agreed time. If you are running late, ring us rather than leave us guessing and we will do what we can.
If we can’t make it
If the vehicle is off the road, or something genuinely outside our control stops the journey — severe weather, a road closure, illness — you will hear it from us directly and as early as we know. You would not pay for a journey that did not happen, and we will help you find an alternative where we can.
If we cannot cover a journey ourselves, we may arrange for another licensed and insured independent private-hire operator to complete it, as set out under Booking above — you will be told who, and you still deal with us. If no one is available, we will tell you straight away.
Licensing and insurance
Obsidian Transfers is the trading name of a private hire operator licensed by Wirral Borough Council, with full insurance in place, and we are happy to show you either before you book. As a licensed private hire operator we can only take pre-booked work — we cannot be flagged down.
Complaints
Call 07943 077308 or send us a message and tell us. There is no complaints department to escalate through, which cuts both ways — you reach the person responsible first time.
If we cannot put something right between us, you can also raise it with the licensing authority, Wirral Borough Council, which licenses this business.
Your rights
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 we must carry out the service with reasonable care and skill, and if we do not, you are entitled to have it put right or to a reduction in price.
We do not ask you to give up any of those rights, and nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
