What we do with your details.
Short version: we use your details to arrange and complete your journey. We don't sell them, and this website sets no cookies.
Who we are
Obsidian Transfers is a private hire business based in the Wirral, licensed by Wirral Borough Council, and the data controller for what you send us. For anything about your data — a question, a correction, a deletion — email contactus.obsidian@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
- Your name, phone number and email address — to confirm the booking or quote and to reach you about the journey.
- Pick-up and destination addresses, dates, times, passenger numbers and anything else you tell us about the trip — to price and complete it.
- How you heard about us, if you choose to say.
- What you send us on WhatsApp — a quote request or message from this website, and your WhatsApp number and profile name, which WhatsApp shows us.
We use these to perform the contract with you, or, for an enquiry, in our legitimate interest in answering it. There is no mailing list: booking or asking for a quote does not sign you up to anything.
Who else sees it
- Another licensed private-hire operator, if one completes your journey. When we cannot cover a journey ourselves, we may arrange for a licensed and insured independent private-hire operator to complete it. We send their driver only what the journey needs — your name, contact details and journey details — and tell you who will be completing it. We remain your main point of contact.
- Jotform, where booking requests are stored and managed. It acts on our instructions only.
- WhatsApp, for quote requests and messages. The quote and contact forms on this website don’t send anything to us or store anything: they open WhatsApp with your message written out, and it reaches us only if you press Send. WhatsApp (part of Meta) handles it under its own privacy policy and terms.
- Our website host (Vercel), which runs this site, passes the booking form to Jotform and counts visits (see Cookies below). The quote and contact forms never reach it.
We don’t sell data, share it with lead-generation companies or pass it to advertisers. Some of these services are based in the United States; transfers there are covered by the UK’s approved safeguards (the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses). Ask us for details.
How long we keep it
As a licensed private hire operator we must keep a record of every booking for at least twelve months and show it to the council on request. Records that also evidence income are kept for as long as HMRC requires. Enquiries that never became journeys are deleted once no longer needed — or sooner if you ask, unless we are required to keep them.
Cookies and analytics
This website sets no cookies, and there is no advertising pixel or cross-site tracking. We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which works without cookies and reports only totals — pages viewed, where visitors came from, and broad device and country figures — not who you are. We do this in our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used. If anything that needs your consent is ever added, this page will change first and you will be asked properly.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to send it to you in a portable form. Email contactus.obsidian@gmail.comand we will answer within a month. If you think we have handled your data badly you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
